Review: Aussie Hairspray

Aussie Mega Hairspray

I absolutely love this hairspray. Before using this kind of hairspray, I used various hair sprays that spritzed on instead of misting, as this one does, so it doesn't give that crunchy hair spray feel. It is hardly noticeable, but it still helps hold hair in place.

I also like the smell of this product moreso than other products I have tried. Right now, this is my go to hair spray. I have been using it everyday for a few months, and it has lasted me quite a long time. This Aussie hairspray is a great value, especially for the great use you can get out of it.

Movie Monday

I am a bit of a movie fanatic, but during a normal week, the only time I have time to watch movies is over the weekend. When I watch a movie, I don't watch just one. Over the weekend I watched 5. Here are some reviews of my favorites.

The Mortal Instruments: The City of Bones
source
Starring Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower, this movie, following a normal teenage girl who discovers that she is a shadow hunter, is perfect for anyone who loves fantasy movies. It was released a few months ago, and while I have not read the books to know how accurate the movie was, I absolutely loved the movie. I am quite excited to see The Moral Instruments: City of Ashes, which is currently in pre-production.

Captain America
source
I also watched Captain America, which is perfect for any who is a fan of The Avengers or any Marvel superhero film. What I really liked about this particular avenger was that Captain America actually began as a normal guy, who was not allowed in the military because of his poor physical condition.

Vampires Suck
source

This movie came out a while ago as a parody of Twilight. While I have heard many negative things about this movie, I was thoroughly entertained. The actress who played Becca, the main character, did a great job with her imitation of Kristen Stewart as Bella. While I did not like the Twilight movie, I did like this parody.

Have you seen any good movies recently?

Empties #1

I have been meaning to post this for a while. Its about a collective amount of products (skincare and beauty) that I have finished and have been meaning to throw out.

From left to right (top row):
  • Bath & Body Works Sleep Lotion: The scent is Lavender Vanilla, which I think smells really good, and it is from the aromatherapy line. I've had this lotion for a long time because I used to have a little bit of insomnia, and I think that it helped. I believe that currently this range is packaged differently at Bath & Body works, as I bought this a few years ago.
  • Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash: This is one of my favorite drug-store face washes. It has a creamy formula. It is not too strong and not too light. It feels quite refreshing when in use.
  • Olay all-day moisturizer: I use this everyday in the morning and evening. I absolutely love it and am considering buying more.
  • Bath & Body Works Paris body spray and Bath Midnight Pomegranate body sprays: I love Bath & Body works lines of body sprays because I think that they typically don't smell as strong as perfume, which is perfect for everyday, and they're much more affordable then the high end perfumes. The Paris scent was definitely one of my favorites.

(bottom row):
  • Benefit They're Real! mascara: A while ago I did a review on this mascara, which you can read HERE. I really liked it and will probably buy more.

The Sound of Music

Ever since I was a little kid, I had been obsessed with the Sound of Music. I use to watch it everyday. As a toddler, I was able to sing every song from the musical without any background music. My mother would wake me up singing "The Lonely Goatherd." In elementary school, I sang to "So Long, Farewell" with a group for a talent show.

So, you can imagine my excitement when I found out about NBC's rendition of The Sound of Music Live starring Carrie Underwood, which airs tonight. While I am quite skeptical that it will be anywhere to matching the original, I am still excited to see another version of the beloved musical.

If you watch it, let me know what you think!

Review: Defrizz Styling Products

When the air is especially damp, I get really frizzy hair. Not only does it look like a mess, but I don't like the feel of it either. Where I live, there is usually a lot of moisture in the air, so frizzy hair is a problem for me. Since the summer, I have been trying two different products to help combat this problem and help style my hair: one is a drug store buy and the other is Bumble & bumble.

Bumble & bumble Defrizz

This product was $30 for this 125 mL bottle from Sephora, which is insane. The defrizz cream did work. I would would put one dollop in my hands and work through the hair before styling. The formula is clear and doesn't smell bad, but you have to be careful to not use too much in one spot, as it will make your hair look and feel oily. After a while the effect would wear off and more would need to be applied. I was using it very quickly, and for $30 I don't think its worth it. If you can find a cheaper one, then I would recommend it as something to try, as it may work better on other hair types, and it did help maintain my mane.

Pantene Pro-V Stylers Styling Balm

When compared to the B&b styling cream, this was much more reasonable and achieved a very similar result. I applied this in a similar fashion, but it came out in pumps, which I liked better than the B&b bottle. The formula was white, and if too much was applied, it did not make my hair look as oily as the B&b did. On the other hand, I could not stand the smell of this formula; however, after styling my hair and spraying some hair spray, I couldn't smell it anymore. I would recommend this product, if you want to make a more price conscious purchase.

What styling/ defrizz creams would you recommend?

December Favorites: Music Addition

During this time of year, life gets particularly stressful. Whether its from the stress of the holidays, finals, or applying to college, the stress can be overwhelming. One of my favorite ways to de-stress quickly is by listening to music.

Here are some tracks that help calm nerves and make me smile. I hope they help your stresses too!

HAIM- The Wire

This track has a really cool sound, and I have had this song on replay since their performance on Saturday Night Live a couple of weeks ago.

Zendaya- Replay

Regardless of your opinion of Disney, Zendaya's vocals are quite amazing in this song, and I love the choreography! As the title suggests, I have this song on replay.

Imagine Dragons- Demons

I love the vocals and the instrumental background. The song is also quite catchy.

Cher Lloyd feat. T.I.- I Wish

Personally, I really like the rap in this song. If you don't like rap, I wouldn't suggest this song for you, but the music video is quite comical.

One Direction- Strong

I actually liked One Direction's new album and this song, in particular. I know that people's opinions of One Direction tend to be quite polarized. However, you cannot deny that they have talent singing. This song especially showcases their vocals.

I tried to incorporate a range of music that I have been enjoying lately, and I hope you found something that you liked! Have a lovely December!

Thanksgiving Week Collective Haul

If you read my Black Friday Post, then you would know that I did a lot of shopping over the Thanksgiving Break. As promised here is my haul from last week.

The stores I visited included Saks Off Fifth, Forever 21, American Eagle, and Walmart (for Holiday Presents.)

I shopped at Forever 21 twice over the week. I mainly bought outer wear pieces.

Below is a blue cardigan from Forever 21. It has a sheer blue ruffle on both sides of the jacket. I really liked it, and it was only $16!

On the same trip, I bought this faux leather jacket. I have been searching for this kind of style for the longest time and was so excited to find this for about $15!

I also went to Forever 21 on Black Friday. The jacket shown below was 50% off the sale price, so it was only $11!

On Black Friday, I went to Walmart to pick up some Christmas presents for my family. They had a really good deal on movies, including Harry Potter movies, the X-men movies, Bridesmaids, The Campaign, and more. I picked up a few including Killers, which was only $1.96, as Christmas presents.

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, I went to the Oprymills Mall in Nashville, which is amazing! I went shopping in their Saks Off Fifth, and they had some awesome deals. I got my dress for Winter Formal from Saks. The dress in the picture is not as purple as it really is, and I absolutely loved it when I tried it on. I almost bought an Alice + Olivia gold dress for Prom, but it was not full-length, which was what I was looking for. It was absolutely gorgeous!

I also picked out a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses and a Calvin Klein ruffle top, which I will be receiving for Christmas! I have found my new favorite store!

I also bought a handful of items from American Eagle, while in Nashville on Wednesday. They were having a 40% off the entire store sale, so I was able to buy more than usual. I bought three pairs of jeans similar to the one shown below.

I also bought a really cute maroon sweater. There are cable knit holes in the sleeve below the elbow, as seen in the photo, and similar holes on the back. (The photo shows a folded side view of the front.) Another plus, this sweater is amazingly comfortable to wear!

While at American Eagle, I also bought a turquoise tank top, which I will also be opening for Christmas.

I also stopped at DSW and picked up two pairs of shoes.

I absolutely love DSW! They have such great deals on designer shoes, especially in their Luxe810 range. When I was at the store with my mom, we were in the clearance section, and she found a pair of Prada shoes on clearance! Sadly, they were 2 sizes too small for me.

However, I did find a pair of gold Ralph Lauren boat shoes in the clearance section, as well as gold peep toe heels!

I had a lot of fun shopping! Did you buy anything over the holiday?

Black Friday

Hello all! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Over the week of Thanksgiving, I did a lot of shopping (a collective haul to come). One of these shopping escapades included Black Friday shopping. I went at 12:01 am because my parents would not allow me to shop on Thanksgiving. This turned out to be a blessing because by the time I got to my local mall, it was not as crowded as it had been previous years. I was prepared to have to wait outside, but I could walk right in! The only stores where there were substantial lines to check out were American Eagle (which was having 50% off the entire store) and Pink.

However, I was slightly disappointed with the deals in some of the stores. Forever 21 only had 50% off on select items, and Sephora only had one table with deals, but at both of these stores, there were no lines.

After shopping at the mall, I went to Wal-mart. At this point, it was about 2:30 am. They had awesome deals on newly released movies, ranging from $1.96 to 4.96, and they were selling full seasons of shows for $9.96! When I went to make my purchases, there wasn't a line at the self-checkout. As you can see, my Black Friday experience was very smooth, and I did not witness any of the madness that is normally associated with Black Friday. Do you have any Black Friday stories?

Review: Benefit They're Real! Mascara

Hello, Lovelies! I know this post has been long overdue. I have been crazy busy with college application season and school. With Thanksgiving Break coming up, I hope to have more time to do more posts. I have also had problems with my normal camera.

Anyway, over the summer, I received a sample of They're Real! Mascara by Benefit. At first, I was a little uncertain about it because I didn't think that it volumized my eyelashes very well, but after a few uses, I absolutely loved this mascara (and still do). It lengthened my eyelashes, but still left them with a natural look, which was perfect for everyday.

Another thing I really liked about this mascara was that it stayed on my lashes all day. I have worn various mascara to parties only to find the mascara on my cheeks by the end of the night. This was not a problem for They're Real! mascara. I even wore it while running, and it didn't run.

Now, I have finished it:( and am considering buying more, but I would love to try something new. Do you have any suggestions for what mascara to try next?

10 Pair Designer Shoes for Under $200!

Hello, lovelies! It's hard to believe that it is already November. I have been meaning to put up more posts, but my camera is currently unusable. I couldn't think of any posts I could do without taking my own photos. However, this idea struck me while I was browsing through Saks Fifth Avenue's online shoe selection. I put together a collage of my 10 picks of designer shoes from Saks that are under $200. As black friday and the holidays draw near, these are giving me inspiration for what to buy for black friday and ask for as presents for the holidays. (For those who do not know what black friday is, it is the day after Thanksgiving, when many stores have huge sales at early hours in the morning!)

Anyway, here's the set. (Pictures courtesy of Saks and Polyvore.)

Designer Shoes for under $200

1) Ugg Australia $200
2) Kate Spade $138.60
3) Marc by Marc Jacobs $138.60
4) RED Valentino $195
5) Melissa $98
6) Hunter $195
7) B Brian Atwood $140
8) Vera Wang Lavendar Label $138.60
9) Kate Spade and Keds $75
10) Tory Burch $150

Shoes, bags, and beauty products are the categories in which I tend to buy designer items. If you have never visited Saks Fifth Avenue's shoe level, I highly recommend it. It is any shoe lover's paradise.

I hope you found something you liked! I hope to be able to take pictures again soon. Have a great weekend!

International Music Festival

Hello Lovelies! I know its been a while since my last post. I have been crazy busy, but I am hoping to have time to post more often.

Recently, I attended an amazing international music festival called the Lotus Music Festival. I absolutely love these events because I get to listen to music that I normally would not have heard of. I would highly recommend checking out any of these bands. Here are some highlights:

Debo Band:
Soul & funk from Ethiopia. They were incredibly energetic. At one point, the lead singer was jumping through the crowd. The music is a really cool sound to it, and the instrumentals are amazing. The music is definitely worth checking out!

Above: Debo Band at the Lotus Festival

Pacific Curls: South Pacific & Celtic roots music. This music is much more laid back but sounds equally amazing. The band has a really cool sound and vocals!

Above: Pacific Curls performing(video courtesy of Youtube)

Nomadic Massive: Canadian Hip-hop. This band was definitely one of my favorite acts. There was so much energy. For one song, the entire crowd was screaming with the band! (Sorry for the bad quality of the picture...it was difficult to get a good picture.)

Above: Nomadic Massive's "Reveye" Music Video

Funkadesi: A combination of Indian, African, Latin American, and Caribbean music. They started their set by walking through the crowd to get through the stage, and their performance consisted of lots of dancing!

This was my second time attending the Lotus Fest. Some highlights from last year include:

Hanggai: a really cool Mongolian band.

Above: Hanggai performing "Xiger Xiger," one of my favorite songs by them!

Movits!: a Swedish band. (This one was one of my favorites from both years.)
Above: Movits! performing "Sammy Davis Jr."

I hope you liked these bands as much as I did! I absolutely love international music! Do you have any international bands that you would suggest?

Lucy Hale and Juicy Couture

If you could not already tell from my What's in my Bag post, I love Juicy Couture. I am also a Pretty Little Liars fan, so when I found out that Lucy Hale was this month's Wild at Heart ambassador for Juicy Couture, I was very excited!

Ode to Fall

Hello, lovelies! I hope you all enjoyed your summer. Today is the first official day of fall! I absolutely love fall, especially getting to wear knits, boots, and scarves. Fall weather is perfect; the trees look gorgeous; and of course, there are new shows premiering!

While I thoroughly enjoy the season, I also miss summer, particularly the amazing movies that came out during that time. I was always headed to the theater over the summer, so I thought I would share with you some of my summer favorites that you should definitely check out if you have not already done so.

Movie ticket stubs from the summer

  • The Internship: Starring Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Dylan O'Brien from Teen Wolf, this movie was definitely one of my favorites! It was very funny and had a good story line. Besides, who doesn't like Google?!

  • The Heat: This was another must see! With Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, it was incredibly hilarious. (May not suitable for younger viewers.)
  • [ HEAT POSTER ]
    Courtesy of movieposter.com
  • Grown Ups 2: This was a bit of a disappointment after the first one, but what the movie lacked in plot, it made up for with awesome cameos with the likes of The Lonely Island, Taylor Lautner, David Henrie, Aly Michalka, Shaquille O'Neal, Bobby Moynihan, Taran Killam, and Alexander Ludwig and an all-star cast including Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Kevin James, Salma Hayek, and David Spade!
  • [ GROWN UPS 2 POSTER ]

  • The Croods: When I first heard of this movie, I did not have I hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised! Staring Nicholas Cage, Ryan Reynolds, and Emma Stone, this movie was really good!

  • We're the Millers: This movie was absolutely hilarious! I saw it twice and could not stop laughing either time. Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter were the perfect actors to play this band of misfits! This is definitely a must see. (May not suitable for younger viewers.)
  • [ WE'RE THE MILLERS POSTER ]

  • Jobs: Any Apple user will agree that this movie was really good. Ashton Kutcher's portrayal of Steve Jobs was spot on. At the very beginning of the movie, I could not tell it was Ashton Kutcher, and of course, Josh Gad's role made the movie even better. While not as funny as the other movies, Jobs was very inspirational.

  • The Bling Ring: This movie was a very interesting telling of the Hollywood robberies. I quite enjoyed seeing the kids' sides of the story. The idea of wanting the glamourous lifestyle of Hollywood's starlets was relatable, although I am sure most of us would not go to the lengths that Emma Watson's character and her friends went to. It was also interesting to examine the criminal psychology of the characters. (May not be suitable for younger viewers.)
  • [ BLING RING POSTER ]

  • Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters: After seeing Percy Jackson & The Lightening Thief, I was looking forward to this movie. It definitely lived up to my expectations! This movie stars Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson and was incredibly suspenseful.
  • Percy-Jackson-Sea-poster.jpg

I enjoyed every movie I saw. (If you could not already tell, I am a bit of a movie junkie.) I really want to see Despicable Me 2, The Wolverine, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, and Baggage Claim, among others.

Now is time for fall, which means new premiers!
  • Key & Peele is back for its second season on Comedy Central after a very successful first season! If you have never seen these skits, I highly suggest you watch Substitute Teacher 1 and 3 and the East West Collegiate Bowl.
  • Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg, just had a series premiere last Tuesday and airs every Tuesday on FOX. If you like comedy, you will definitely like this show!
  • New Girl has returned for its third season, also on FOX, and is definitely a must see for anyone who loves comedies!
I am also very excited about these premiers that are coming soon:
  • The Vampire Diaries Season 5 in October on the CW
  • Pretty Little Liars Halloween Special in October on ABC Family
  • The Carrie Diaries Season 2 in October on the CW
Have a wonderful fall!

Morning Face Routine

For me, skin care is one of the most important aspects of beauty. For this reason, I have a set routine for my face every morning to keep my skin in good health!

From Left to Right:
  1. My first step every morning is washing my face. Right now I am using Clean & Clear Morning Burst Facial Cleanser for the morning cleanse. I love how refreshing it is and how it wakes me up!
  2. The next thing I do is spritz on a toner. Now I am using Boscia Clear Complexion Tonic to remove the residue left over from the cleanser.
  3. I then apply the BareVitamins Skin Rev-ver Upper. It makes my skin feel so nice! When I am in a hurry, I don't need to apply anything else past this step.
  4. Moisturizing is the last step for me before make up. I have been using this Olay Complete All Day Moisturizer with Sunscreen for a long time and still love it! Plus, it has SPF 15 to protect my face from the sun, and it's reasonably priced!
What skin products do you use? I hope you all are having a lovely fall!

My Brush Set

So a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a YouTube video that was giving a review of a make up brush set containing 24 brushes. I had been searching for a reasonable, yet good quality, brush set for a while to expand my collection, so I decided to watch the video. (In case you were wondering, it was makeupbyfran's review: mybrushset.com.)

After watching the video, I was quite interested in the product and went to mybrushset.com to check it out. They had the 24 set brushes in pink, black, and brown and offered free shipping to the United States. To make matters even better, the makeupbyfran's review had a promo code for 75% off the original price of the brush set because the brush company is Australian based and trying to gain customers in the US! I bought one immediately.

The other day, they finally arrived!

While I did not have a good experience with their customer service (they did not fix a problem, when they said they would, leaving me with an extra brush set and $25 poorer), I cannot deny the amazing deal I got on these! Barely over $1 per brush! And the brushes are so soft!

If your looking to expand your collection, you should look into these!

Haul: H&M, Forever 21, and LUSH!

Over the weekend, I went shopping again, spending my birthday money:) Shopping is such a stress reliever! Anyway, this is what I bought!

The first store that I made purchases in (after reluctantly leaving Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, and Nordstroms without buying anything) was Forever 21.

I've really wanted a pair of floral jeans, and finally found some for a reasonable price!

If you can't tell, this blouse has a bunch of little anchors on it, which I thought was adorable, and it is of the peplum style, which I am really loving right now!

After Forever 21, I headed over to LUSH! The items smelled wonderful, and the bath bombs looked good enough to eat! The store was amazing, and they use natural ingredients in the majority of their products, which is a plus.

I got the Hair Doctor Hair Mask, which smells of rosemary (I have heard that rosemary is great for helping with memory)! Despite the ugly color, the mask feels lovely on the scalp, and it was especially helpful for me because I have a dry scalp. After my first use, my hair felt softer and my scalp, more moisturized. So far, I am loving this product!

Another really cool thing about LUSH's masks is that if you buy 5, wash the empty containers, and bring them back to the store, you can get one mask for free!

My final stop was H&M!

The above shirt is a lace floral blouse, and I bought it for $5! What a bargain!

I don't know how well you can see it, but the pattern on the fancy jersey (as it is called on the receipt) above is a lovely floral print.

The last item I purchased was the long white scarf, as shown above. It can be worn many different ways and is large enough to keep me warm in the colder months.

Have a lovely day!

The Liebster Award

Recently, I was excited to find out that I was nominated for the Liebster Blog Award by Lauren (Tea & Post), who has a lovely blog. You guys should definitely go check it out! (Thanks so much for the nomination!)

What is the Liebster Award? The award is one where bloggers nominate each other, who have less than 200 followers, for this award. It is a really good way to promote smaller blogs. If you want to learn more about the awards origins, click here

These are the rules:
1. You must link back to the person who nominated you
2. You must answer the 11 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you
3. You must pick 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to be nominated for the award
4. You must come up with 11 questions for you nominees to answer
5. You must go to their blogs and notify your nominees

These are my answers to the questions I was given:

1. What made you decide to start blogging?
I have always loved fashion and beauty, and when I started reading more personal blogs, particularly Zoella, instead of blogs like Who What Wear (which I love but it doesn't feel personal) I realized that writing a blog was something that I could actually do without actually working in the fashion industry but just as a lover of pretty things.

2. What are your favourite types of posts to read?
I love reading hauls, beauty reviews, and tags. I feel like the tags are a lot more personal, which I definitely like in a blog.

3. What's your favourite cosmetic brand?
Right now, I'm loving BareMinerals' face products (especially their foundation and face primer) and LUSH (they make natural products, which smell good, and some look good enough to eat!)

4. Who is your favourite blogger/YouTuber?
I like so many, but I would say that Zoella and The Persian Babe are definitely two of my favorites!

5. What beauty product could you not live without?
Really pigmented lip balm. My lips get very dry so it's good for moisturizing but it still gives a pretty color and lipstick affect.

6. What is your favourite book?
Pride and Prejudice. When I start reading it, I can't stop!

7. What are your top three favourite high street shops?
Topshop, Acne, and Mulberry (... And Louis Vuitton and Self Ridges and Harrods...I just love them all and wish I had enough money to shop at them all!)

8. If you could have dinner with three people, alive or dead, who would you pick?
The three members of the lonely Island. It would be quite entertaining! Or Jackie O, Princess Di, and Kate Middleton Dutchess of Cambridge. All have/ had amazing style and held positions of extreme importance!

9. What is your favourite lipstick?
YSL Volupte sheer candy (basically, that entire YSL range!) The colors are gorgeous and so is the packaging!

10. If you could live anywhere else in the world where would you pick?
Stockholm, Sweden. It is so pretty and has a wonderful selection of places to shop (and is the birthplace of many fashion houses and musical artists!) Stockholm is just full of so much culture and history!

11. Favourite perfume at the moment?
Right now, I am really loving Marc Jacob's Honey perfume. It smells especially good after the smell has worn off a little bit, so it is a bit lighter.

Here is the list of my nominees:

These blogs are so lovely. I definitely recomment that you guys go and check them out!

Here are my questions to the nominees:
1. If you had to choose between fashion and beauty, which would you choose?
2. What is you favorite store?
3. What is your favorite place to visit?
4. Who/ what band is you favorite music artist?
5. What is your go-to beauty product?
6. What is your favorite nail polish color?
7. Who is your favorite designer?
8. What is your favorite beauty brand?
9. If you could choose anyone to narrate your life, dead or alive, who would it be?
10. What is your favorite kind of lip product?
11. Who is your favorite blogger/ YouTube vlogger?

If you were nominated and decide to participate, let me know. I would love to read your post!
